I obtained my babysitter\'s certificate at the age of 12 and began to babysit my three younger siblings (5,3 and 1) from that point on. The following year I started babysitting for friends of the family. The children were under the age of seven. When I was in highschool I volunteered at the local Montessori school. My tasks included preparing food, working on math & reading as well as preparing art projects. My most recent experience with children has been this summer. I traveled to Italy to teach children English through an organization called ACLE. Their teaching philosophy is based on education through theatre and games. While there I taught classes of about thirteen students between the ages six and fourteen. I switched schools/locations every week and the age group changed as well. My responsibilities included forming lesson plans and executing them, supervision during breaks and lunchtimes, planning out-of-school activities and conflict management. In addition to these experience I was a Resident Assistant at Concordia University for two years in a row. My duties included being a resource for first year students and planning social events for the residents.
