Nanny in Hamilton, Ontario

About Me: I am a personable individual with a degree in social psychology from McMaster university. I am an artistic person and I encourage creative exploration and critical thinking. I love teaching kids through play and asking critical thinking questions about how the world works. I love when kids ask "why" and it keeps going on and on. I believe in establishing boundaries with and for kids. Care does not mean giving into a child's demands, but figuring out what their underlying need is, and providing healthy options for the expression of that need. When setting a boundary it is also important to describe why the boundary is being set. Over the years I have accumulated much experience. At the age of 13 I started baby-sitting 3 young boys after school. At 16, I was a camp counsellor at an overnight camp. Throughout university, I volunteered in Hamilton at Inasmuch house, Eva Rothwell Centre, and Learning and Fun at the Welcome Inn. At the age of 20, I was an Opare for a family in Spain for one month. For 4 weeks in the summer of 2022, I was an assistant camp instructor at the Art Gallery of Hamilton's summer camp. As my other part-time job, I am currently a social service worker and employed at 2 nonprofits in the city. At nights, I work at a women's shelter. And occasionally I pick up shifts at a transitional housing residence for youth aged 16-21. I am a commuter cyclist and cannot drive a car (yet!), so I need to be able to access this work through public transit or bike. Availability: weekdays - 2pm - 8 pm Services And Training: - I am CPR certified, level C - I have a good understanding of boundaries - I can provide care for pets I am triple vaccinated and I recently had Covid which protects me from some of the variants.
