Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

Hello I am a full time graduate student (age 23) currently looking for part time work in child care. I love being around children and creating a fun, safe environment for them. I have worked in the service industry for the past 6 years, and in 2019 I took two months off to travel to Italy and be a full time live-in Au Pair (nanny) for 2 children. The children were both 10 years old learning English, I would plan lessons, evaluate progress and use creative fun methods for learning to keep them engaged. I would assist in meal preparation, getting ready for school, school drop off, light housekeeping, school pickup, taking kids to their extracurriculars. On summer vacation I was responsible for taking kids to the beach, out for meals, and other activities as well as the daily English lessons. I also have experience babysitting for multiple families in my community when I was in high school, some with children ages 4-7 and some 1-3yrs. I have also volunteered with the Brenda Stafford Foundation in their child care center over the last year, this has given me experience working with many ages and backgrounds, as well as adjusting to a variety of childcare needs. I think childcare is something that can be very positive towards development, in terms of getting them aquatinted with others and becoming more confident in meeting new people. I also think it is helpful if the children see the childcare as not only someone to take care of them and make sure they are safe, but also as a friend who they can enjoy time with.
