Nanny in Halifax, Nova Scotia

My name is Kim McMillan and I am very interested in continuing to pursue my career as a Nanny/Household Manager. I am a single mom to a joyful 2.5 year old boy who will be attending full time daycare starting July 1st. I have more than 20 years' experience as a Child and Youth Worker/Nanny. I earned a three-year Advanced Diploma from Fanshawe College, in Child and Youth Studies. I also have up to date Non-violent Crisis Intervention and First Aid and CPR. During the first nine years of my career, I specifically worked in group home settings and crisis centres where I supported children, youth and adults, dealing with a wide variety of behavioral issues. I transitioned from group homes to private families when I was presented with the opportunity to work for a family in need of a nanny with certain qualifications, since the family's eldest child was on the autism spectrum, the middle child had behavioral issues and the youngest had certain specific developmental delays. I am incredibly fun-loving and passionate about what I do. At my last place of employment, where I worked for 7 years, full-time,I managed all areas of the household, including: cleaning, cooking, shopping, laundry, bedding, as well as take care of the kids daily needs. I was also responsible for driving them to and from their daily activities. I still continue to work for this family on a casual basis, now that the boys are teenagers. I have worked with every age group so I am very familiar with the various activities available around the city.
