I'm an
Individual
Hello parents, my name is Noémie (pronounced "No-Emmy"). I received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University in 2021 and am set to receive my graduate degree in Clinical Psychology at Acadia University in May 2024. I have extensive experience working with children ages 6 months and up in both home and structured learning environments. As I'm nearing the end of my academic journey, I can offer 16 to 35 weekly hours of childcare until mid-August 2024 (see additional details further down).
I enjoy working with littles and have always gravitated toward work involving child-rearing or elementary education. I've been babysitting since I was 14 years old. I have also worked as a private tutor for children of elementary school age, and as a substitute teacher for the Halifax Regional Centre for Education primarily in Grades 2 to 6.
I have first aid training, as well as criminal & vulnerable sector clearances, which I can provide upon request. I also have a car and a valid Class 5 driver's license, and am willing to travel to most regions of HRM. I can provide references from previous families upon request. As a dog owner, I'm comfortable with most pets except cats due to allergies.
I am happy to assist with activities within and outside the home like crafts, park outings, scheduled extracurricular activities, educative outings, etc. As an example, in a previous family I worked for, I was responsible for picking the children up after school, taking them to birthday parties, the library, the museum, gymnastics, etc. I also helped with diaper changes, naps, bottle feeds/meals and bedtime routines. As a native French speaker, I can offer child-rearing services in both English and French!
I look forward to meeting with you and your minis 🥰
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Upcoming availability:
From April 1, 2024 to May 1, 2024; I only have a few openings for March and April. I can flexibly accommodate between four and six hours per week on afternoons, evenings and weekends only. I will be out of the province April 4 to 9.
From May 2, 2024 to May 31, 2024; I have 35 available hours on Monday through Friday. I can work consecutive hours or split shifts (for example if you need help before and after school).
From June 1, 2024 to August 16, 2024: I have 16 available hours on Monday, and on Friday. I can work consecutive hours or split shifts (for example if you need help before and after school). Depending on your family's needs, I may also be able to accommodate before and after-school care for the remaining of the school year on Tuesday, Wednesay, and Thursday too.
I am open to discussing May to August weekend availability.
Rate:
My start rate is $22/hour for up to 2 children. Each additional child is $3/hour up to a maximum of 4 total children. While this rate may seem too high for some, I have set it according to my level of experience and qualifications, and the quality of my work. I choose to work in this field because I truly enjoy being a part of the routines of the families I work for, and I pour my whole heart into the kids I look after. Nonetheless, I'm open to discussing other types of arrangements that would best fit your family's needs and allow me to sustain myself.
Allergies:
I have anaphylactic allergies to peanuts and all tree nuts. As a rule-of-thumb, I don't feed nuts or peanut-based snacks (e.g. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) to children under the age of 6 years. I'm comfortable around these snacks for children who can independently prepare them and wash their hands thoroughly. This rule is to keep myself and your children safe.
Hiring me:
If you are interested in contracting my services, please feel free to write me here. We can then schedule an in-person or virtual meeting to discuss an arrangement further and get to know each other. I will give preference to families who need consistent/steady childcare (e.g. a family who needs 30-ish hours of childcare versus a family who needs occasional evenings).
