Hi parents and caregivers! My name is Serena, I'm a College Graduate and Dean’s Honour Roll recipient of the Early Childhood Education program here in Ottawa. I have over 8 years’ experience working with children of all ages, from teaching sailing to elementary school, to also preschool. My years of experience include honing my skills of behaviour guidance and teaching children to learn through play. Additionally, I'm also highly resourceful and able to teach to any learning domain in any setting to advance a child's development. For example, during just one outing to a park, I could help a child start to learn numbers, colours, shapes, vocabulary, social skills, and emotional regulation while also getting some physical activity in! My biggest goals when working with children are to help them become self-motivated, gain self-esteem/awareness, learn to love learning, and obviously, to have fun! Along with my various experience, I'm also registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, making me an RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator). I'm also CPR/AED and First Aid certified, I have my Food Handler’s Certification, and I have a clear vulnerable sectors check (a more in-depth criminal records check for specifically working with children).
