Hi! My name is Michelle and I'm 22 years old (turning 23 in May!). A bit about myself... I recently graduated from McGill University with a bachelors degree in Honours Psychology. I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from graduate programs and I'll hopefully be starting my Masters degree in Counselling Psychology in the fall. I currently hold a full-time position as a project manager at a non-profit organization located in Kahnawake. Unfortunately, I'm finding this job to be particularly unfulfilling due to the lack of human connection (and an excessive amount of administrative work). So, I'm really looking to foster a close bond with a family located in Montreal QC. In the interest of transparency, I don't have babysitting experience in the traditional sense (other than babysitting my siblings); however, I have extensive experience working with children. First and foremost, I volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada for several years. I was responsible for planning activities for girls aged 4 to 6 (sometimes older) aimed at developing a variety of skills (e.g., survival skills, arts and crafts, social advocacy, etc). I also have extensive experience working with children on the autism spectrum. Back in 2019, I spent 6 weeks shadowing two teenaged boys on the lower functioning end of the spectrum. My tasks included helping both boys fulfill their daily needs (changing diapers, feeding, transitions between activities), encouraging and reinforcing targeted behaviours (stimulation, socialization, integration in a regular setting) and managing anxiety crises. I also have a lot of teaching experience with 6 to 12 year-olds, particularly as an English as a Second Language instructor. In fact, I am TEFL certified! I absolutely love kids and find so much joy in preparing fun activities and supporting them in their development!
