Nanny in Truro, Nova Scotia

I'm an
Individual
Dear: Sir/Madame I graduated from the Bachelor of Education program at St. Francis Xavier University with a concentration in secondary English and Social Studies. I have also recently received my Alberta teaching certification. My undergraduate program was completed at Saint Mary\\\'s University where I majored in English with a minor in Psychology. As part of the Bachelor of Education program, I participated in a variety of workshops and professional development days where I was able to acquire many important skills which provided me with the opportunity to explore teaching and learning strategies within and across a variety of educational areas. I had many opportunities to work and share skills with teachers and other educational staff allowing me to enhance my own knowledge across a wide range of contexts which will lead to greater student success. Remaining current with today’s issues, and maintaining relevancy to student’s interests is a core value I will always be committed to. Working with children has always been a passion, and through my teaching experience I have become fully aware of the necessity to maintain one\\\'s professionalism, and building positive relationships with students. I am enthusiastic and excited about teaching and believe that the primary aim of education should always be student-centered, focusing on creating the most meaningful learning experience for students. During the summers between 2006 and 2010 I was employed as a camp leader with the Town of Truro and Municipality of Colchester\\\'s summer camp programs. During these five summers I grew both personally and professionally through my role as a mentor for the children. These camps promoted physical activity and focused on team work and camaraderie which are huge components in child learning and development. Through the different programs and activities of this job I exhibited strong leadership and guidance skills, while demonstrating effective management and interpersonal skills with the children, their parents and my co-workers. I was also responsible for providing individual attention and care to children with limited abilities and special needs. I feel these experiences improved my own skills and abilities as an effective role model, communicator and teacher. The summer of 2011 I was employed with the Native Council of Nova Scotia as the Child Help Initiative coordinator. I worked with clients to promote the development of Aboriginal Parent Groups, and provided guidance, advice and resources that lead to a stronger and brighter future for Aboriginal families and their children. Through key activities I was able to strengthen the physical, cultural, emotional and spiritual security of the Aboriginal family unit through access to services such as prenatal care, nutrition, parenting skills, recreational facilities and programs that the Aboriginal family or child required. I can also pass along letters of recommendation from my Facility Advisor and Cooperating Teacher to you. Both of these individuals have a great understanding of my strengths and abilities. They have excellent insight into experiences I have gained through this wonderful profession. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to apply.
