About Me: Hello! I am a third-year Child Studies student at Mount Royal University, majoring in Child and Youth Care Counselling. My husband, dog (Hank), and I moved to Calgary to pursue my passion for learning more about childhood development and working with different demographics. Since moving, we have fallen in love with the city and everything it has to offer. Some of my favourite things are exploring the nearby mountains, trying new foods, and hanging out at the dog park. However, there is nothing that truly excites me like a watercolour session in the sun with some littles or making a new batch of play dough. I have tons of experience working with children and I am excited to partner with a family in making the summer fun for everyone! Availability: I am flexible on a start date and what the childcare schedule could look like. I would love to partner with you in making sure my schedule works the best for both of us. Preferably, the position would be full-time throughout the summer with the possibility of moving to part-time during the school year. Experience and Qualifications: I have had the opportunity to work with many different populations in a variety of environments. I am comfortable with working with children at any developmental stage and age. In the past year, I have completed a practicum placement at Janus Academy. I have worked 400 hours with children with Autism ranging from ages 7 to 18 years old. I have also been running an after-school program for newcomers to Canada. This has required me to find cultural experiences throughout Calgary and organize volunteer experiences for the students. Lastly, I have been volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, creating activities and lessons that are fun and developmentally appropriate for children ages 7 to 13. Prior to this past year, I have extensive experience as a babysitter, camp counsellor, and volunteer for kids programming. As I continue my schooling, I am learning more about how to engage children of all ages in fun activities that promote growth.
