Nanny in Nelson, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Hi Families! I have been working with an amazing family for the past year and we are now looking for another family to join us in a nanny share! Please see the link below for more details https://canadiannanny.ca/attachment-parenting-styled-nannybabysitter-canadian-nanny-job-toronto-on A little about me: I am currently working part time with a wonderful little person who just turned two while I study Pre and Perinatal Attachment Psychology part time. I recently returned back to the city after living in montreal for 2 years while completing my full spectrum birth/reproductive care training.I was blessed to work with montreal birth companions, where I was given the opportunity to support amazing parents who were experiencing barriers to accessing perinatal care. I have returned home to work on my application for midwifery school in hopes of applying at ryerson next fall. I am hoping to find a family that aligns with the work I'm doing with the family I'm currently with, who is looking for full time care and open to the collaborative possibilities a nanny share can offer. I have just shy of 15 years experience with being with children and young families, starting with receiving my early childhood education diploma in 2005. After completing ECE I moved to Ireland to work as a full time care worker for 2 years, which was a complete dream. When I moved back to Canada I continued care work in a home setting until I began teaching as a Montessori educator in Guelph. As much as I loved co- facilitating learning and curiosity with the little ones in an educational environment, I found that the way the Montessori philosophy was being taken up did not align with how I desired to be present with the students. I also began to miss the intimacy of working with individual families in their space. I continued childcare work and slowly began working closer with newly postpartum families while I went back to school to complete my degree in gender and sexuality studies.I began to do birth support work on a volunteer basis while I was in school and fell completely in love with supporting families during such an intense transitional period in their lives. I've been a practicing doula for two years now, focusing mainly on postpartum support work, trauma informed full spectrum perinatal care and working with folks who experience barriers to competent care. I am humbled to have witnessed all the beautifully different and creative ways it takes to be a family and to have had the opportunity to learn from so many wonderful people what it means to show up and care for each other. I am dedicated to the importance of this work and how it nourishes me. I hope to continue it! Hobbies & Interests: - growing food and making herbal medicine for families and my community - knitting - reproductive justice - perinatal attachement therapy and somatic practices - hiking with my pup.
