Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I am a very friendly, patient, and caring young woman and experienced nanny. I have recently graduated from Dalhousie University, with a degree in International Development and Health Studies. I believe with my experience I could build a long-lasting relationship and provide families with excellent care and service. I am currently prioritizing working with a family with an infant or toddler to foster my experience for further schooling and professional career development; however, my search is not limited to this. I am looking for a summer or full time position. I am available to start June 1st 2020 but can be flexible with this start date. In addition to my positive, energetic personality, below I have highlighted my relevant experience and key attributes that dictate my suitability to take care of your children. I have gained a large number of relevant skills and experiences through past jobs, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities. Last summer, I cared full-time for a wonderful 4-month-old infant over the period of five months. The previous summer, I worked alongside a new mother of two seven-month-old infant boys. I acted as an additional 'set of hands' to support the new mom to ensure her babies were well taken care of. This allowed me to understand the importance of a scheduled routine and navigating through a day taking care of infant children. Through this experience, I was able to refine my problem-solving skills as well as hone my time-management capabilities when events did not go as planned - a common occurrence in this field. Working with twins allowed me to have a first level experience when it came to observing and facilitating main areas of development in infancy. Physical development such as fine motor skills, cognitive and emotional development as well as speech and language development were heavily developed during this time. Through the participation in daily experiences, such as feeding, playing, infant/mom classes, walks, and emotional support and affection, the infants' development were strengthened. Shortly after my experience with infants, I began work as a full-time nanny for a family with two children aged four and seven. General duties during the school year included dressing/prep for school, preparation of meals, school pick-up and drop-off, and the organization of playdates & extracurricular activities. Additionally, I frequently attended school field trips and ensured to keep the house tidy and household work completed at all times. Once the summer began, I was in charge of cultivating plans and creating activities five-days-a-week to keep the children active and happy. Through the use of a private vehicle and public transit, we explored places like Centre Island, the Ontario Science Centre, the Toronto Zoo, various museums, and much more. I am extremely flexible with high energy and have a lot of patience for all children. Separately from my work experience, I am constantly engaged in various means of volunteering with direct contact with a wide collection of youth. Whether this is young women and youth struggling with issues of mental health at the YWCA in Toronto, or in various hospitals in Halifax while at school; the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the I.W.K. Health Centre for women, children, and youth. Specifically, in the IWK Centre, I work in the Neonatal/Paediatric Intensive Care Unit's Family Space. Here I am able to familiarize myself with families of sick infants and babies as well as have opportunities to learn about skills needed to be a long-term care provider. In the past, I have also worked with children as a mentor and teacher's assistant at my dance school, providing children with extra support and guidance through class. I have consistently volunteered at the YWCA Toronto, working with disabled women and youth with a strong focus on mental health. Through these two experiences, I have gained excellent skills that have prepared me for working with children in the future. A little more about me... I was born and raised in Toronto and grew up in the Bayview Village and Leaside area. I am extremely comfortable with navigating the Toronto mid-downtown core. Upon graduation from Dalhousie, I hope to attend the midwifery program at Ryerson University because of my passion for learning about prenatal and postal development and helping others. I am passionate about the growth and development of all children and believe infancy and early childhood is an extremely crucial time within the lifespan. I have the drive to be apart of the development of your children by sharing my knowledge, caring for them, and adapting to situations. I am registered in CPR and First Aid. What I can do for you... I am happily able to provide pet care, housekeeping, laundry duties, errands, grocery shopping, and meal preparation. I have experience cooking a wide variety of food and dietary options, such as gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian. I love to cook and bake, and believe both are fun activities for children to be engaged in. Thank you for considering my application. Should you have any questions or need clarification regarding my past experience and skills, please feel free to contact me directly by telephone at (647)-98..., or by email at [email protected]. I am also happy to provide references upon request.
