I'm an
Individual
My name is Selam. I am 26 years old. I am German-Eritrean and I live in Germany since 16 years. I have a big Family. I a goodmother of two gilrs (one and 7 years old). I have still my work and holiday Visum. I lived in a beautiful town called Marburg in a multicultural residential community (two Chines young women, one German-Philippian young woman and me). With common cooking, - watching film and games, evenings I really enjoy my time. My social live is for me very important. Sometimes we invite friends for dinner. In my free-time I meet my friends, visit my big family and try to travel. I like to paint, walking and I also like to watch movies and visit theatres. In my childhood I danced in a group and played old saxophone. But It is very long time ago. 2011 I started my voluntary social year. After few weeks I stopped it, since I got a place at the university. In this time I worked in a children's home for refugees. I studied social work at the 'University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt', Germany. During my studies and internships I could gather a lot of experience in dealing with special needs and people with a migration background. I worked also as a volunteer in the areas with the elderly and in different kind of Sommer camps for kids and teenagers. Besides, I worked privately as a babysitter. The children were between two, three and six years old and I also took care of a baby (three month old) for a few months. After I finished my studies (2014), I wanted to get some work experiences abroad and so I went for half year to England (Staffordshire /Stafford). Through a project, I had the opportunity to belong to a pedagogue?s team. So I worked in a local authority for example with Foster Cares, trained others in pedagogy and it meanings and other things. My host family there was very kind. It was a very good experience for me, I learned very much, had the possibility to meet many peoples and see the beautiful area around England. Back in Germany I started my one year 'state recognition' (the 'state recognition' is the qualification of a social worker required in Germany). For this I worked the first six months in a children home for refugees (they were between 12 and 18 years old). The other six months I worked for a local authority (youth office and family). Upon completion of my 'state recognition' I continued working in this department and I am still there. Beside this work I am engaged in an association that is committed to individual care for elderly. This work is based like a honorary basis. I look after an 92 old lady (five time in a week). She is very interesting and humorous. It is nice to see that she is living full of energy. I do a lot of biography work. This work is a lot of fun for me and it is very varied and more to learn many aspects of social work. To collect experiences in a foreign country is important for me, because Social work needs the comparison between methods, work steps and the possibility to learn how to operate the theory versus practically. Futhermore, I know that my English knowledge right know is not the best. But I am really high motivated to improve my English knowledge. Any longer I have also completed an additional certificate in 'psychomotor' during my studies with one year long practical experiences. I would love to implement my professional knowledge about the method psychomotor. To myself, I am a very open person and am always happy about chance to expand myself and my intercultural competences with your help. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
