Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Hi there, I am a 25-year-old young professional with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation, having graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since moving to Vancouver two years ago, I have been working in a restaurant and as reception at a skin clinic, although am eager to get back to what I love to do which is taking care of children. I have had much experience working with children, including the following: - Long-term babysitter for a family of four in Ottawa. Upon beginning, their daughter was two and son was a newborn. Generally, I would help them out once or twice a week when they were looking for a date night or had appointments. Occasionally, I would take care of the kids over a night or two when the parents had special events or getaway weekends. I babysat for this family on a regular basis for three years and continue to see them whenever I am in Ottawa. - Completing a six-month placement assisting a special education teacher in a kindergarten class. Specifically working with four children in a 1:1 setting who were experiencing challenges either with academics or their behaviour. - Worked as a nanny for a family of three in Toronto, Ontario over a six-month summer contract. Their daughter was 14-months-old when I began. As their nanny, I took care of morning duties when getting there (organized breakfast, changed her diaper, got her dressed), took her to various activities (swim lessons, music class, playgroup, splash pads, parks, for walks etc.), meal prepped during her nap, completed her laundry and light tidying, and worked on her skills including learning to use a fork/spoon, take steps, and taught words/simple sentences. - Volunteer with Autism Nova Scotia throughout my third and fourth year of university. I volunteered with their Autism Arts program, which took place every Saturday at the Halifax Art Gallery. As a volunteer, I worked 1:1 with a young boy with autism during a group art class to ensure he was following along, having fun, and happy. - Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and with the Canucks Autism Network throughout this last year while living in Vancouver. I consider myself to be someone who is extremely caring and personable. I am also organized, punctual, and a hard worker. I strive to do my best in every situation that I am put in, whether in a professional or personal environment. As a nanny, I love to get to know families as much as possible to ensure I take care of their children exactly how they hoped. Growing up, I was given the opportunity to take part in many extracurricular activities including drama, piano lessons, band, hockey, soccer, and football. I continued to play football and hockey up until my last year of high school. Currently, my pastimes include yoga and outdoor recreation such as hiking, biking and camping. I am also up to date with my first aid and CPR 'C', completed swimming lessons up to level 9, and have a criminal record check as well as youth at risk check. I am also more than happy to share references upon request! I look forward to hearing back from those who believe I may be a good fit for their family. Charlotte
