Hi! I knew that I wanted to make working with kids my life when my little sister was born. I was 8 years old and actually got to catch her with the doctor! I looked at that beautiful face and fell in love for the first time. After that she became my everything. My whole being was about making sure she was loved, safe, learning, playing and joyful in all things. As I did this with her I realized that I had a deep love for all children, and a real knack for connecting with them in a way others didn\'t know how to. I believe that there are no such things as learning disabilities or \'problem kids\'. I believe that children are communicating with us with everything they do, and it is our job to listen and respond to them with love and compassion at all times. I have made my life about helping children feel supported and loved. I live to encourage and support play, curiosity and self expression. I am 8 years older than my sister, so child care started early for me. • One-on-one in home tutoring for children with ADHD. Creating specialized programs, monthly summaries and progress evaluations. Responsible for advertising, hiring, management and bookkeeping. Grades K-9 • Was a one-on-one aid with a young man with Autism. Worked with a team of professionals to create programs and build his social, communication and academic skills. Grade 4 student. • Involved with 2 families with a child with Autism. Ran a wide variety of programs that focused on both academic skills and developmental growth. Both children in grade 4. • Taught English in Taiwan. Created games and learning activities in the classroom. Also structured and implemented tests. Wrote final evaluations. Taught children aged 4 - 15. • Responsible for implementation and creation of programs designed to increase social, living and cognitive functioning for an autistic child.
