I'm an
Individual
Children are naturally curious and eager to learn. From the moment they are born, they embark on a life-long voyage of self-discovery and learning -- learning about the world they live in and finding their place in it. My role as a caregiver is to partner with parents to facilitate this journey, making it as joyous and fulfilling as possible. I will strive to create a climate where children can blossom and grow; where children will learn to believe in and love themselves. Children thrive when they are safe, happy and emotionally supported. I hold a Bachelor of Child Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University, and have had the privilege of working with children of all ages in a variety of settings. I have a comprehensive theoretical and practical knowlege of child development and can provide your child with activities which will encourage and support all areas of development. In supporting and fostering cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language development children are offered opportunities to develop the necessary life skills of sharing, turn-taking, problem solving and cooperation. Helping children to learn and grow has been my life\'s work. I love interacting with them, really getting to konw them and sharing and contributing to their lives! Children are a constant source of amazement -- they keep you in stritches half of the time, and completely unnerved by their intelligence the other half. We live in a very fast-paced and busy society where life ofen seems like a roller coaster. My greatest strength and happiness lies in providing the support to families that will help slow that roller coaster down! * providing in-home care for children from infancy to school age. * design of a welcoming play area, and monitoring the environment to ensure that it is changing to meet the needs of the developing child. * organize and implement activities to provide age-appropriate learning opportunities and encourage development in all areas; this includes activities to foster school-readiness skills and promote literacy; arts and crafts; visits to libraries, museums and the Discovery Centre; outdoor play; and arranging individual and group playdates. * encourage and assist children in developing self-help skills. * transporting children to and from school and accompanying them to extra-curricular activities. * maintaining daily communication with parents, as well as developing a rapport with other individuals central to the childlren's lives.
