Hi, my name is Sydney!! I am currently 23 years old and in nursing school. I am looking to spend some time caring for children. I have a genuine love for children and have for as long as can be remembered. I have a great amount of experience with children; I have babysat since age of 12 years, nannied for several years and spent 7 months in Australia being an au pair. I have cared for children of all ages but specialize in age 3 and under. I am prepared to not only care for your children this summer but take on tasks such as cook, tidy, laundry, etc. My family and friends often describe me as a reliable, hard-working and caring person. I am a very organized and detail oriented person. For as long as anyone can remember I have had a special love for children. I could always be found with a doll in my arm no matter the occasion or chasing around the mother with the baby begging to hold it. I begun babysitting at age 12 for a 2 year old and newborn. The children are now 14 and 12 years old. I see them as my younger siblings and they see me as a sister figure. In addition, before I took a gap year after to high school to follow my dreams of being an au pair, I spent a summer in Arizona nannying. During my time as an au pair I lived in Perth, Australia with a family caring for their little boy (2) and girl (3). For 7 months my days were filled with crafts, baking, cuddles, daily adventures and everything I had ever wished for. My duties as an au pair not only included caring for the children but household duties such as laundry, cooking, cleaning. Work wasn’t “work” but something I looked forward to everyday. It was an experience of a lifetime where I learnt more than I ever could’ve imagined about not only children but myself and the world around us. For the past 5 years I have been nannying for a few amazing families! I also took a family studies course where I learnt about child development, parenting and childcare. One part of the course was a practicum placement where we would go to our daycare for 2 hours once a week to interact and learn about the development of the children ages 1-5. I really enjoyed the class as it allowed me to gain a better understanding of childcare.
