Hello! My name is Barbara. I'm a happy, positive, calm, loving type of person. I’m very no-nonsense, efficient, flexible, and organized. I love children and have worked with kids full time for the last 5 years. I believe in challenging kids to their full potential while providing a nurturing and safe environment. I will always make their well-being and growth my priority. I believe that it is extremely rewarding to be a part of a child’s development and to see them growing up and changing before your eyes. I was an au pair in the USA for two years and I finished my time there in 2019 with a family in Brooklyn, NY - USA with a 2yo and 3mo and we have a great relationship so they’ll be happy to provide a recommendation. My full-time experience has been with kids from 0-5 years old, but I have previously worked with kids of all ages and feel comfortable with all age groups. I worked in recreation all throughout University with kids mostly 3 to 15 years old. During the two years, as an au pair in the United States, I worked with two different families. For the first year I looked after a 1-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy; and for my second year, a two-year-old boy and a newborn who turned 4 months old when my program ended. I was in charge of getting them dressed and ready in the morning, school drop offs and pickups (for the 4yo only since the other kids stayed home with me all day), all their meals, their laundry, nap time, bath time and all other activities like storytime at the library, going to museums and playgrounds, activities, arts and crafts, etc. During that time, I also occasionally looked after a set of twins (boy-girl) while they were from 1yo to 2yo. And before that, in my home country of Brazil, I nannied for a single mom with a 1yo; and worked for a party venue as a kids recreation monitor for over 4 years preparing activities, games, and entertaining kids from ages 3-15 years old. And since returning home at the beginning of the pandemic, I started giving online English classes. My first language is Portuguese. I have fluent English as I have previously studied English for a semester at EC San Diego, worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando during my summer break from school for the Disney International College Program, and since graduating I have been an au pair in the USA for two years. I also studied French for a year and a half before my time as an au pair, but unfortunately, due to lack of practice, I don't believe it to be at a high level anymore. I also took one semester of basic Italian while in the US. I understand some Spanish. I am Child First Aid and CPR trained; a good swimmer; familiar and a fan of the Montessori method. I've attended courses on Storytelling to children, and Raising Creative Kids. I don't have any dietary restrictions or allergies and am fully vaccinated. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
