Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

My name is Athena, and I have over 7 years of experience working with children and youth, spanning three different countries! I have previously held the positions of dance gymnastics instructor, summer camp counsellor, preschool instructor, early childhood educator, ELA tutor, nanny, ESL teacher (Croatia), and au pair (Germany). I am currently situated in Bonn, Germany as an au pair for a family of four (children ages 5 and 11). Prior to moving abroad, I was employed as a nanny to two wonderful munchkins in Calgary, ages 3 and 5! Before this, I worked full-time at a licensed childcare centre in Lethbridge from 2020-202....... My childcare philosophy is interest-based, play-focused, and child-led! I am certified as an Early Childhood Educator (Level 1) and am trained in first aid (Standard First Aid CPR C & AED). In addition, I possess my own vehicle that is up-to-date with all inspections and routine checks (suitable for commuting as well as transporting children). I am returning to the Calgary area in mid to late-August and am seeking a full-time (live-out) nanny position that offers 40 (or more!) hours/week. I am available on weekdays but am also happy to provide occasional care on weeknights/weekends. My goal as a nanny is to enrich your little one’s development via fun and engaging outings and activities! This includes arts & crafts, cooking & baking, or science experiments! I personally enjoy spending time out of the home, and so I look forward to exploring parks, playgrounds, or the Calgary Zoo with your kiddos. A little bit about me (non-childcare related things): I graduated in 2020 with a BA in English, and have since completed a TESOL certification to teach English abroad. I am bilingual (native proficiency in English and Greek) and am currently learning German. I love to travel and visit new countries/cities! When I’m not working, you can typically find me spending time with my friends. I enjoy writing and anything art-related (especially making clay jewellery), as well as yoga and cycling. I’m an avid thrifter and have a pretty big vintage glass collection! My favourite spot in Calgary is Prince’s Island Park and my Saturdays are often spent at one of the city’s many farmer’s markets.
