Nanny in Newmarket, Ontario

Hello there, my name is Liora! I am 23 years old student at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as ryerson) majoring in Psychology (graduating 2024). I have a wide array of experience working with children, including my time working as a fulltime ECEA at a daycare in Newmarket, after which i supplied during the school year (April 2023 - present). This also includes my time volunteering at a community centre with children ages 4-8 (however, my 'usual' group was children 4-5), and two other nannying jobs which had a regular schedule (not including any "one-off" nannying positions). I worked with one family with two children for a year on a daily basis for after school care (toddler 24 months and 4 years old). The second family of four i worked with for three years on weekends and after school supervision (children ages 5 and 7). One of my more recent position has been in the summer and into the school year several time a week for child care and crafts with a lovely 5 year old girl. I am very passionate about my time and work with children; childhood and adolescence is such a critical time to be surrounded by consistent adult figures who can provide reliable leadership and enforce boundaries while maintaining a positive and playful relationship. I love(d) my time working as a nanny and find it exceptionally fulfilling. Through my time volunteering and working with other families, I have had the opportunity to know many wonderful children with different types of needs and preferences to which I am able to adapt and cater to. My field of study has also helped me grow my communication and interpersonal skills that allow me to be open and creative with many different children and their unique personalities. I have also completed a CBT workshop. Through the pandemic, many children have lost a lot of opportunities to socialize, learn new activities, participate in their hobbies, and maintain a well-balanced routine. People learn differently and excel in different areas; children are constantly exploring different areas of skill and mastery to one day find their passion. I believe in offering and engaging in various activities that engage their fine motor skills, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and cognitive development. I am highly skilled in the arts; I paint and draw in all mediums (oils, acrylic, charcoal, watercolour, pencil, etc.), crochet and sculp. These are all activities that I can gladly offer and teach (I am also able to bring some supplies based on your child’s interest). Art can be a very positive addition to children’s development, especially in refining their fine motor skills. I am also able to assist your child with schoolwork (>grade 12 level), especially English/writing/reading. I maintain a 3.7 GPA at TMU. I also love the outdoors, to the point of completing a 6 week canoe portage and having committed an entire summer to tree planting in BC (lived in a tent for four months).
